Teacher who taught students for ₹60/day to get Teachers Award

Suman Goel, a teacher at a government school in Delhi's Rohini, who started teaching with ₹60 a day, has been selected for the National Teachers Awards 2026. She wanted to pursue BA at Lakshmibai College but was met with financial difficulties and began teaching to help pay for her college education. She now supports the learning of mostly first-generation students.
