Tech giants' 'hidden debt' jumps to ₹160 lakh crore on opaque AI funding: Report

Five major tech giants, including Meta and Microsoft, have accumulated $1.65 trillion (around ₹160 lakh crore) in hidden debt to fund massive AI infrastructure, according to a Nikkei Asia report. The figure now exceeds their combined official liabilities. Using accounting loopholes, these companies omit future data centre leases and bulk GPU supply contracts from their official balance sheets.
