Telugu religious orator targets schoolchildren availing mid-day

Telugu religious orator Avadhani Garikapati Narasimha Rao from Andhra Pradesh kicked up yet another controversy after comparing schoolchildren who depend on the government’s mid-day meal scheme to “sobhanapu pellikodukulu (bridegrooms on the nuptial night)”. His rant came after the state government announced an expansion of the scheme in the 2026–27 budget.
