Temple land dedicated to deity, cannot be usurped by govt: Supreme Court
Supreme Court has said temple property is land "dedicated to support of a deity" and the government cannot "usurp" it. "[Government] cannot unilaterally usurp, nor permit its officers to usurp, the property of religious/charitable institutions it is charged to protect," SC added. The court further said power to regulate temple administration doesn't make the government the owner of its assets.
