Temple's deity is owner of land attached to temple, not the pujari: Supreme Court
A temple's presiding deity (God/Goddess) is the owner of the land attached to the temple while its pujari or priest only holds the property for managing it and cannot be treated as 'Bhumiswami' (landowner), the Supreme Court has said. It said this while upholding MP government orders to delete names of pujaris from revenue records of temple properties.
