Tennessee prison chief to resign after US woman's failed execution

The head of the US' Tennessee Department of Correction will step down this month, state officials said on Saturday. This comes days after the state failed to execute convicted murderer Christa Pike despite administering two doses of a lethal drug. Following the botched execution on Wednesday, Pike fell unconscious, was intubated, and hooked to a mechanical ventilator to breathe.
