Tesla halts production at US factory after backlash amid COVID-19 pandemic

Elon Musk-led electric automaker Tesla announced that starting Monday, it will suspend production at its vehicle factory in California's Fremont, after widespread criticism over keeping its production line active in defiance of a local county order. The Alameda County had issued a shelter-at-home order limiting business amid COVID-19 outbreak, where Tesla didn't qualify as an "essential business".
