Elon Musk's Tesla will join the S&P 500 index as one of the largest-ever new members, prior to the opening of trading on December 21, potentially in two tranches. "It will generate one of the largest funding trades history," S&P Dow Jones Indices said. Tesla's stock market value of over $400 billion is larger than 95% of the index's companies.
