Thailand installs Buddha statue after razing Hindu deity's idol

Thailand has installed a Buddha statue at a disputed border area with Cambodia, at the same site where Thai military had earlier destroyed a Hindu deity’s idol after capturing the location. Thai army said statue was placed as a religious gesture and to boost morale among locals. Cambodian officials condemned the move, saying it violates spirit of recently agreed ceasefire.
