Congress MP Shashi Tharoor welcomed the unveiling of a bust of C Rajagopalachari at Rashtrapati Bhavan, saying he was "truly pleased" to see Rajaji honoured. The bust replaced the statue of British architect Edwin Lutyens. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla welcomed Tharoor's statement as the Opposition parties continue to oppose the government's move to replace the bust.
