Animated sitcom 'The Simpsons' is set to break the record as the longest running US show by surpassing the TV series 'Gunsmoke', which ended after 635 episodes in 1975. 'The Simpsons' has announced two more seasons, which will run until 2019. The show, which premiered in 1989, is currently in its 28th season, with reportedly over 600 episodes aired.
