The 'world’s largest canal lock' opened in the Netherlands

The King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, on Wednesday opened what is said to be the "world's largest canal lock" at Ijmuiden, a port city connecting the North Sea Canal with the port of Amsterdam. The construction of the 500 metre-long and 70 metre-wide sluice began in 2016 and went over its initial budget by €300 million due to construction setbacks.
