Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been ruled out of his side's FIFA World Cup 2026 opener after being denied entry to Canada owing to his ongoing rape trial. Border officials had allowed him to enter the US, where Ghana's base camp is located. Partey, who has pleaded not guilty to rape charges, is scheduled to stand trial in November.
