Thousands protest hike in fuel prices in Indonesia

Thousands protested across Indonesian cities on Tuesday, demanding the government roll back the increase in fuel prices. Student and labour groups demonstrated in Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Kendari, Aceh, and Yogyakarta as police said they expect protests to intensify. Over the weekend, Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced a cut in fuel subsidies that would increase prices by 30%.
