Tibet’s Guliya Plateau may hold ice over 1,28,000 years old: Report

Researchers found ice on Tibet’s Guliya Plateau that likely dates to last ice age and could be over 1,28,000 years old, SciTech Daily reported. Scientists used radioactive beryllium and chlorine isotopes to determine its age and compared the results with oxygen-isotope records from cave deposits on Tibetan Plateau. Together, both records indicated the oldest Guliya ice may exceed 128,000 years.
