Tigress flown to Buxa Reserve for reintroduction on Oct 2

A three-year-old tigress from Bihar's Valmiki Tiger Reserve was airlifted to West Bengal's Buxa Tiger Reserve on Wednesday. She will be released in the core zone on October 2 — the first tiger reintroduction in eastern India. Six more tigers are planned over the next two years. Buxa had no recorded tigers since 2018.
