Tiny robot that swims using real muscle cells developed
MIT engineers developed a paper-thin swimming robot that moves using real muscle cells instead of electronics. The cells, engineered to respond to light, make the robot's fins flap. The "aquabot" can even steer through a mini maze at speeds up to four times its own length a minute. The work could help develop smaller, softer and more efficient biohybrid robots.
