TN family of five kept in bonded labour, woman dies giving birth

A woman and her newborn baby died during childbirth under a tarpaulin shade in Tamil Nadu's Kancheepuram. Her husband Anand alleged their five-member family was kept in bonded labour-like conditions and that she was denied timely medical care. Police registered an FIR and began probe, while allegations of bonded labour have been referred to labour department officials for verification.
