TN farmers bury themselves in sand to demand release of Cauvery water

Tamil Nadu farmers staged a protest by burying themselves in sand to demand the immediate release of Cauvery water for irrigation of Kuruvai crop. The protesters condemned the Karnataka government for holding back Tamil Nadu's rightful share and treating it as a "drainage state" by releasing only excess water. They also reiterated their opposition to the proposed Mekedatu dam project.
