TN forest dept restores 300 acres of mangroves in Thoothukudi

Tamil Nadu Forest Department launched a restoration drive four years ago, helping restore 300 acres of mangrove cover in Thoothukudi. The project, carried out under the Tamil Nadu Shore Protection and Conservation Scheme, has made coastlines resilient to erosion, cyclones and tidal surges while protecting local wildlife. Local fishing communities played an active role in the restoration process.
