TN kidney transplant success marred by trafficking concerns

Tamil Nadu performed 1,796 kidney transplants in 2024, the second-highest in India, data tabled in the Lok Sabha shows. But a kidney trafficking case in Namakkal has prompted scrutiny. The Health Department has suspended two hospitals' transplant licences and begun inspections at multiple centres.
