TN launches India’s ‘first’ marine force to protect sea wealth

Tamil Nadu on Friday, 8 March, said it has launched the country’s “first” marine force to protect marine resources and biodiversity in Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Bay. The force will combat marine wildlife crimes, including smuggling and poaching of marine animals. Twelve marine watchers have been trained in marine patrolling and scuba diving, with boats and communication equipment.
