TN moves SC against HC order denying backward class status to those who converted to Islam

CM Vijay-led Tamil Nadu government has approached the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court ruling that said conversion to Islam alone does not make a person eligible for reservation under the Backward Class (Muslim) category. The state challenged the court's decision to strike down its March 2024 government order extending reservation benefits to certain converts.
