On his first overseas marketing trip in 1985, Dr Viju Jacob, an entrepreneur, struggled to follow the thick Australian slang of clients. So he borrowed his friend’s six-year-old son and practised talking till midnight to master the accent. The next morning he fared far better, eventually appointing an agent and closing nearly $3 million in business.
