Tokyo court upholds Japan's ban on dual citizenship

A Tokyo court on Thursday rejected a lawsuit challenging Japan's ban on dual citizenship. The presiding judge said that dual citizenship "could cause conflict in the rights and obligations between countries, as well as between the individual and the state". The eight people who filed the lawsuit had claimed that the ban on holding foreign nationality violates the Japanese Constitution.
