Tokyo govt lets staff ditch formals for shorts, T-shirts amid rising heat

The Tokyo government is encouraging staff to ditch jackets and ties for shorts, T-shirts and sneakers under its "Tokyo Cool Biz" campaign to help them cope with extreme summer heat and reduce energy costs. Japan is bracing for another hot summer after recording its hottest one last year. The campaign promotes casual office wear in place of traditional business attire.
