Tortoise Jonathan, world's oldest land animal, confirmed alive after death rumours

Rumours of the death of tortoise Jonathan, the world's oldest known land animal, at the age of 193 have turned out to be false. A spokesperson for the St Helena government confirmed to Guinness World Records that Jonathan is "alive and well". The spokesperson also condemned the hoax, calling it a "terrible" thing to do.
