Tourists panic as comic book predicted massive earthquake in Japan

A 1999 comic book by Japanese artist Ryo Tatsuki predicted a massive earthquake and tsunami would hit Japan in July 2025, triggering widespread panic across East Asia. The prophecy, which eerily foresaw the 2011 Tohoku disaster, led to sharp drops in tourism and flight cancellations. Authorities urged people to remain calm and emphasised preparedness over fear.
