TRAI seeks power over apps tagging official calls as spam: Report

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has sought powers under the IT Act to take action against call management apps that label or block official 140- and 1600-series numbers as spam, The Economic Times reported. The move targets platforms including Truecaller, Hiya and Whoscall. TRAI said crowd-sourced spam tagging could wrongly block legitimate promotional and service calls.
