Transgenders have no legal right to collect traditional 'badhai': Allahabad High Court

The Allahabad High Court has ruled that transgender persons have no enforceable legal right to collect 'badhai' (customary gifts) given on auspicious occasions. A division bench of Justices Alok Mathur and Amitabh Kumar Rai dismissed a plea by Rekha Devi, who sought court protection and territorial demarcation for badhai collection in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, after rivals encroached on her area.
