Tripura DGP Dhankar, who was found dead, led probe in Nirav Modi fraud case

Tripura Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, who was found hanging in his office toilet at Agartala police HQ in a suspected suicide, led CBI probe into the ₹13,000-crore Punjab National Bank fraud involving diamond merchant Nirav Modi. The scam operated from 2011-2017, with Nirav detained at a London prison since 2019. Nirav's physical extradition from the UK remains pending.
