Truce between Israel & Lebanon extended for 45 days, US says

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend their ceasefire by 45 days and hold expanded talks on a political settlement, the United States announced on Friday. US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the extension would allow “further progress” in negotiations. This comes even as Israel carried out fresh strikes that it said were outside the scope of the truce.
