US President Donald Trump praised Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, calling him "young, attractive, tough guy". "Strong past, very strong past, fighter. Ahmed al-Sharaa has got a real shot at holding it together...[Syria's] a torn-up country," he added. Trump met al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, marking the first meeting between a US President and Syrian leader in 25 years.
