Trump fires top US general CQ Brown, nominates retired officer

US President Donald Trump fired Chair of Joint Chiefs of Staff General CQ Brown on Friday, followed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth firing Navy's top admiral and Air Force's second in command. Trump said he was nominating retired Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Caine to replace Brown. Brown had been accused by Republicans of prioritising diversity, inclusion programmes in Pentagon.
