Trump refuses to answer whether US would protect Taiwan from China

US President Donald Trump declined to answer whether US would allow China to take control of Taiwan by force. "I never comment on that...I [never want to]...put myself in that position," Trump said. Notably, ex-President Joe Biden's administration had announced $571 million in defence assistance to Taiwan last year even as US doesn't formally recognise Taiwan as an independent country.
