US President Donald Trump rejected nearly 6,000 clemency applications amid speculation that he would mark America's 250th Independence Day celebrations by pardoning 250 people, NYT reported. A White House official said that there was never such a plan. Trump awarded pardons and commutations to loyalists, political donors, and key allies who had "skipped the line", the report added.
