Trump's 'Department of War' name change call may cost $125 million

Congressional Budget Office has warned that renaming US Department of Defense as Department of War could cost anywhere from a few million dollars to well over $125 million, depending on how widely and quickly the change is implemented. Notably, United States President Donald Trump signed the executive order authorising the name in September 2025.
