Try a new hobby to engage your mind, says neuroscientist Yousef

Cognitive neuroscientist Sahar Yousef said on the podcast that familiar activities let the mind keep churning. Running the same route or cooking a familiar recipe leaves little room to experiment, she said, while trying a new recipe or learning a new skill forces greater presence. She urged people to push themselves to take up a hobby, such as juggling, playing the harmonica or guitar.
