Turkey hopeful as US eases CAATSA sanctions on defence under Trump

The US has been easing CAATSA sanctions on the defense sector after Donald Trump became President. In 2020, Washington imposed sanctions on Ankara over its purchase of the S-400 Russian surface-to-air missile defence system. It also removed Turkey from its F-35 programme. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed optimism about easing U.S. CAATSA sanctions under President Trump.
