Turkey's Cappadocia holds 36 underground cities, 'fairy chimneys'

Shaped by volcanic eruptions and erosion, the Cappadocia region in Turkey is known for its cone-shaped rock formations called "fairy chimneys" which rise up to 130 feet. The region also houses 36 underground cities with vast networks of human-made caves and tunnels. Cappadocia is famous for its cave churches and wall paintings dating back to the early days of Christianity.
