'Turtle' was the world's first submarine used in recorded underwater combat and was planned to sneak up on the British enemy ships during the American Revolutionary War. A two-minute video reveals that Turtle was not a successful mission as it was not able to attach explosives to the undersides of the British warships moored in New York harbour.
