TV presenter apologises for criticising Doku over plan to leave squad for child's birth

TV presenter France Pierron has apologised for criticising Belgian footballer Jérémy Doku over his plan to temporarily leave Belgium's FIFA World Cup 2026 squad for the birth of his first child. "I was expressing a personal opinion within the context of a debate," she said. Criticising the 24-year-old, Pierron had said a father is "useless" during a child's birth.
