Twitter to relaunch 'blue tick' verification program by early 2021

Twitter on Tuesday said it plans to relaunch its 'blue tick' verification program, including a new public application process, in early 2021. The platform had paused public submissions for verification in 2017 after hearing feedback that the program “felt arbitrary and confusing to many people.” Twitter will initially verify accounts of government officials, brands and sports teams, among others.
