Two Gujarati friends grow saffron in the air; sell at ₹9 lakh/kg

College friends Subhash Kanetiya and Ashish Bavaliya began experimenting with aeroponics saffron farming in Gujarat's Hamapur village in 2022. The technique involves using air to grow crops. They first multiplied saffron bulbs to ensure good-quality mother plants and now sell saffron at ₹9 lakh per kilogram besides training rural youth in aeroponics farming.
