An American baby, born prematurely after heart block, a dangerous cardiac condition, was fitted with the world's smallest pacemaker to have his heart rate stabilised. Almost two months after surgery, Mikey Oliveri is thriving with his heart operating normally. The leadless pacemaker from Medtronic's Micra is no bigger than a large vitamin capsule and weighs as much as a penny.
