Uber fined ₹9,216 crore for letting computers decide which drivers to suspend
Dutch Data Protection Authority has imposed an €825 million (₹9,216 crore) fine on Uber for automating driver suspensions without adequately informing them, Reuters reported. The fine would be Europe's second-largest under data protection rules, behind the €1.2-billion Meta fine imposed by Ireland in 2023. Netherlands has banned decisions made by computer algorithms if they impact people's lives.
