Uber spent $1 million a week in one city on UberPool service
In 2015, Uber spent over $1 million per week in San Francisco on its UberPool carpooling service in order to compete with rival Lyft, official documents have revealed. The money was spent on subsidising the rides to try to attract customers with low fares. However, Uber lost 26% riders to Lyft when it rolled back the discounts in 2015 end.
