Uber to invest up to $1.25 billion in Rivian in robotaxi deal

Uber will invest up to $1.25 billion in EV maker ‌Rivian as part of a strategic partnership to build and deploy autonomous robotaxis. The companies said that 10,000 fully autonomous R2 SUVs will be deployed as robotaxis from 2028. Uber will initially invest $300 million and will fund the remaining amount through 2031, subject to Rivian gaining self-driving technology milestones.
