Uber's Spanish arm to pay severance to 4,400 riders it fired in 2021

Uber's food delivery platform Portier Eats Spain has agreed to pay severance to 4,400 riders it had fired in 2021, local union UGT said. The riders were fired after Spain introduced a new law requiring food delivery companies to hire couriers as staff. Uber will pay the riders an amount equivalent to 45 days of salary per year of service.
