UCLA to celebrate 50 years of 1st use of internet's predecessor
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the "birth of the internet" with a public event on October 29. On this day in 1969, researchers began to transmit the command "LOGIN" from their workstation using internet's predecessor 'ARPANET' for the first time. The system crashed after the first two letters "LO" had been sent.
